Welcome to Alderney Week 2007

4 - 12 August

Only to Alderney Week 2007!

This official Alderney Week website has been created to keep you up to date with Alderney’s biggest and most fantastic annual event.

If you are in a party mood, make sure to head for the Channel Island of Alderney for Alderney Week, the island’s biggest annual carnival.

What’s On?

Imagine 9 days of non-stop fun and frolics with events, competitions and entertainment for everybody, whatever their age. Home-grown entertainment at its very best with over 130 events produced, staged and organised by the Alderney Week Team, with the help of many volunteers, musicians, thespians and event organisers - all making sure you and your family, whatever your ages, will have the most marvellous time on this little island in the middle of the English Channel.

… and that’s Alderney Week in a nutshell!

Alderney Week’s Cavalcade Day, one of the big highlights, always takes place on the first Monday of August, and always concludes with the dramatic torchlight procession the following Saturday night. But there are many more highlights throughout the week which draw visitors from near and far to this little island on the rock. In fact, the island’s 2,400-strong population almost doubles during that week and you’re strongly advised to book your accommodation well ahead of time.

Alderney Week started well before the last war and, what was initially a village fayre, has since developed into a madcap extended week. Every year since then, the organisers come up with a new theme and new events.

The history of Alderney Week is fascinating and you will soon be able to read all about its origins on this website.

Super Puffin is the Alderney Week 2006 logo and Super Puffin was the Alderney Week 2006 logo and mascot and very aptly represents this year’s theme “Heroes and Heroines”.

This charming creature is the result of an island-wide “design-a-logo” competition for under 18’s and with over 50 entries for this year’s logo, the judges had a tough choice to make but are convinced that Super Puffin is just perfect for the job. He has been featuring prominently on the Alderney Week programme, on posters and all merchandising items including T-shirts and baseball caps.

Public opinion is that Alderney Week 2006 was the best for many years, with lots of fun and frolics, beautiful sunshine, gorgeous Miss Alderney and her charming entourage, fantastic floats, great shows, wonderful music, including the first ever “Battle of the Bands”, and Alderney’s very own “X-Factor Show”, superb entertainment – in particular the Wednesday night Gala Spectacular  and many other events, silly competitions, the first ever Pedal Kart Grand Prix, a fantastic “Man-Powered Flight Show” and definitely the best fireworks display ever! Alderney was alive to the sound of music, the weather couldn’t have been better and everybody was out to enjoy themselves and entered into the spirit. Absolutely brilliant! But the Alderney Week Team isn’t resting on its laurels and promises:

Alderney Week 2007 is going to be just as good,

…… if not better!

Miss Alderney 2006

Alderney Week could never be without the glamorous Miss Alderney, her two Maids of Honour and Little Miss and Master Alderney.

This year’s Miss Alderney is 16-year old Lianne Bunn.

Her Maids of Honour are

Kimberley Clay and

Charlotte Neill.

The stunning blonde trio was crowned on Saturday 27 May at the Miss Alderney Disco Night

And following in their footsteps are this year’s Little Miss and Master Alderney, 10-year old Shannon Clarke and 7-year old Rian Drake who charmed the socks off the judges! You can see how and why….
