Despite the short time in which to organise a mini-Alderney Week during COVID-19 Phase 5, the Alderney Week Team has managed to put together a programme featuring no less than 68 events from 3 to 8 August to entertain the good people of Alderney and all Bailiwick Bubble visitors from Guernsey, Herm, Sark as well the Isle of Man.

Alderney Week kicks off with Cavalcade Day Monday 3 August and, throughout the week, features many of the traditional popular favourites: the Sandcastle Competition and Family Quiz Night (Tuesday 4th), the Daft Raft Race (Thursday 6th) , StrongMan and StrongWoman (Wednesday 5th), a mini Gala Night (Wednesday 5th) , the Harbour Festival (Friday 7th)  and, of course, on Saturday 8th the ultimate Torchlight Procession with an amazing fireworks finale to mark the end of Alderney Week 2020. Local and visiting musicians and bands will be providing great live music…. and much more!

And all events organised by Alderney Week are free admission!

In addition, many of the island’s clubs and organisations – the Alderney Wildlife Trust, Visit Alderney,  the Alderney Bird Observatory, the Football Club (adding some 11 additional happenings!), the Rugby Club, the RNLI,  the Sailing Club, the Alderney Railway Society, the Alderney Theatre Group, the Alderney Rotary Club and other individual organisers –  are hosting different events throughout the week.

There’s entertainment for everybody and all ages and for visitors this is a great way to discover Alderney.

The 48-page programme was designed and produced by Robin Goodliffe but, alas, despite proof- reading by other folks, a mistake did manage to slip in: the regular opening of the Roman Fort is organised by VisitAlderney and not the Alderney Wildlife Trust.  Our apologies to VisitAlderney!

Any changes to the printed programme will be announced with posters  in the VisitAlderney window, on our Facebook page and our website, and on our local radio station Quay FM.

The programme is now on sale for £2 at both Alderney newsagents, both LeCocq’s Stores, The Farm Shop, Jean’s Stores and the Visitor Information Centre.
