What's this year's programme?

PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME OF EVENTS

We are now working on the programme  for this year's Alderney Week and can confirm the following events:


Saturday 3 August - Start of Alderney Week 2013 

 

 High Tides: 05:20am & 5:54pm   -   Low Tides: 12:45pm

10:00 Registration for Junior Tennis Tournaments

2:00pm  Grand Opening Parade

2:30pm  KFA Opening Show followed by

Children's Mini Olympics, picnic & ponyrides: Butes 

4:00pm  Zumba Session on the Butes

5:00pm Powder Ball Target Shooting Games at Fort Albert. Minimum age: 15

Evening:

8:00pm onwards - big Opening Ceremony in the Bavaria Beer Tent  on the Butes:  Bangers and Burgers, 

Live Music with a surprise tribute band from the UK!

Best  Costume  Competition “Two of  a Kind” 

Mr. Alderney 2013 Fun Contest  , followed by more live music 

 …….and later that night: Quarry Party until early Sunday morning(more details to follow)  

 

Sunday 4 August 

High Tides:6:23am and 6:43pm -  Low Tides: 12:55pm

10:00 Clay Pigeon Shooting at Fort Albert organised by the Alderney Shooting Club.   

10:00-1:00pm Art exhibition at Pré Studio: There will be paintings, mirrors & cushions by artists Neil Paterson, Ian Paterson, Jane Paterson & Barry Hughes 

11:00am  Alderney Week Ecumenical Church Service & Concert with the  Alderney Blowers in St. Anne's Church

2:00pm  Victoria Street Market, includes:  Little Miss Holiday Prince &  Princess Fun Contest, and  street entertainment: from the  Rain or Shine Theatre Company with excerpts from "Comedy of Errors"; live music  from the  Alderney Island Band, the Ukaleles  and the "Mad Scatters"   

2:30 onwards Junior Tennis Tournaments

4:30pm-7:00pm  Junior Fishing Competition with a twist! - 4 age categories ( up to 5 years; 6-9 years; 10-12 years and 13-16 years) Signing on at 3;45 at the beginning of Breakwater

Evening:

8:00pm  Brain Race: Family Fun Quiz Night:  on the Butes.

 

Monday 5  August - Cavalcade Day

High Tides:   07:08am & 7:25pm     Low Tides: 1:36pm

09:00 onwards: Junior Tennis Tournaments

09:30 onwards - we're  setting up for the big Cavalcade Fair on the Butes and we need all the volunteers and helpers we can get.

10:00-1:00pm Art exhibition at Pré Studio: There will be paintings, mirrors & cushions by artists Neil Paterson, Ian Paterson, Jane Paterson & Barry Hughes  

 

 

from 1:00pm onwards: Cavalcade Parade , followed by the Big Cavalcade Fun Fair with side shows, Pig Racing and other racing events, fun competitions, live music,It's a Knock Out, Tug of War,  Zumba session and much more....

Evening: 

6:30pm pre-theatre Picnic (bring your own wine, food and  seating/ blankets) in the Island Hall Gardens

8:00pm Comedy of Errors - outdoor theatre performance by the Rain or Shine Theatre Company 

 .. and later on that night: 2 Bunker Parties

 

Tuesday 6 August 

High Tides:  07:48am & 8:03pm  -  Low Tides: 2:14pm

10:00-1:00pm Art exhibition at Pré Studio: There will be paintings, mirrors & cushions by artists Neil Paterson, Ian Paterson, Jane Paterson & Barry Hughes 

10:30   Fun Run starts near Braye Railway Station with a Zumba Warm-Up Session! (registration at 10:00)

2:00pm Canine Capers Show – Braye Common

 

2:30 Putting & Chipping Competition - Alderney Golf Club

2:30 Target Bowls Competition - Alderney Golf Club

5:00pm Powder Ball Target Shooting Games at Fort Albert. Minimum age: 15 

 

Evening 

6:00pm  Fashion Show with a Fizz - Butes

6:00pm  Yard of Ale Competition at the Rose & Crown

6:30pm pre-theatre Picnic (bring your own wine, food and  seating/ blankets) in the Island Hall Gardens

8:00pm Rain or Shine Theatre Company evening performance of  “Comedy of Errors” in the  Island Hall Gardens 

 

Wednesday 7 August 

 

High Tides: 08:24am & 8:37pm - Low Tides: 2:49pm

09:30am  Auditions  for "Alderney's Got Talent - under 16 years" in the Alderney Week Tent on the Butes

10:00-1:00pm Art exhibition at Pré Studio: There will be paintings, mirrors & cushions by artists Neil Paterson, Ian Paterson, Jane Paterson & Barry Hughes 

12:30pm  Young Pavement Artists (age 7 and under)  Reynard’s Terrace

2:30pm   Sandcastle Competition – Braye Beach

 

…. and tonight’s it’s all happening on The Butes

8:15pm Alderney Blowers' Prelude 

9:00pm Gala Spectacular at the Butes

Thursday 8 August

11:00pm Daft Raft Race – Braye Beach

3:00pm Beach Olympics (children aged 8 and over)   Braye Beach

3:00pm Powder Ball Target Shooting Games at Fort Albert. Minimum age: 15

4:30 Football Match 30 Signals Regiment vs. Alderney

5:30  Zumba Session at the Butes

 

Evening 

7:30pm Alderney Blowers Concert    - St. Anne’s Church

8:00pm -11:00pm Teenies under 16's Disco  Butes Tent


Friday 9 August

 

High Tides:  09:29am & 9:39pm -  Low Tides: 3:56pm

8:30pm    Alderney's Got Talent for over 16's kicks off with a surprise act

9:00pm onwards - Toga Disco at the Belle Vue

Saturday 10 August

High Tides: 09:59am  & 10:09pm  -   Low Tides: 4:28pm

This morning, everything is happening at the Inner Harbour:

10:00-1:00pm Art exhibition at Pré Studio: There will be paintings, mirrors & cushions by artists Neil Paterson, Ian Paterson, Jane Paterson & Barry Hughes 

10:00am   Duck Race  - Inner Harbour  (ducks £5 on sale from 9:30)     

10:30am   Man-Powered Flight – Inner Harbour & Prize presentation

 Waiters Wheelbarrow Race – Inner Harbour

 Strong Man of Iron  & Iron Lady Contest – Inner Harbour

The Grand Alderney Week  Prize Draw – Inner Harbour

 

Evening:

9:00pm  Torchlight procession from Royal Connaught Square (Torches on sale from 8:15pm at the  Island Hall)   

10:00pm Fireworks and last night with Ronnie & Friends' live music on the Butes, marking the end of Alderney Week

 .......later that night: Quarry Party  until early hours of Sunday morning

 

Sunday 11 August

High Tides: 10:28am and 10:41pm - Low Tides: 5:00pm

10:00am - Wombling Clean-Up on the Butes. Everybody needed to give us a hand!

10:00-1:00pm Art exhibition at Pré Studio: The exhibitors are N there will be paintings, mirrors & cushions by artists Neil Paterson, Ian Paterson, Jane Paterson & Barry Hughes 

2:00pm - 4:00pm RNLI  ‘Come Visit Us’ Day down at The Harbour 

2:00pm -5:30pm  – Live Music in the Sun on the Butes – bar, bbq etc..

4:15pm  Wild Hogs Parade around the island

 

Friday 16 August

 

Evening: Alderney Week Fun Fund-Raising 65th Anniversary Celebrations Ball in the Alderney Marquee with Hog Roast, a massive birthday cake and our favourite local band The Fling. The theme is "Two of a Kind" and fancy dress would be most welcome with prizes for the best entries! More details to follow shortly
